The Tall Book of Make-Believe

The Tall Book of Make-Believe is the most beloved book from MY childhood, a collection of wonderfully illustrated and written children's stories and poems. It's out of print, and a used copy costs near $300 - so I'm hoping and praying that they'll reprint it while our little ones can love it too. The Moon Song by Mildred Plew Meigs still rings in my head regularly, and Garth Williams' illustrations for it are perfect. A lot of great themes and interesting stories (including a homesick poltergeist) in one lovely little package. SO REPRINT IT, YOU FOOLS!

The Belly Button Book

Sandra Boynton writes some of the most wonderful books for little children, but for me, the BElly Button Book takes the cake. Eli (at 19 months) thinks it's hysterical, and the simple, sing-songy rhyming is catchy and big, big fun.

Welcome to Children's Books for the Weird

Thanks for joining us! The main idea here is to share good books as we come across them -- but this is not the place for Dick and Jane. This space will be devoted to the better books that we find, since we seem to be finding a great many of them.
